The Vetiver candle contains top notes of effervescent fruit and citrus, middle note of clove leaf, base notes of cedarwood and vetiver. A 9oz jar candle retails for $52.
6. Oud (Dyptique)
Diptyque is a French fragrance company that has been producing candles, perfumes & personal care products since 1961. Their Oud candle is hardy, outdoor scented candle with notes of incense, patchouli and sandalwood. A 7oz Oud jar candle retails for $60.
5. Eucalyptus & Rosemary (Lafco)
LAFCO is a New York based fragrance company whose candles were recently featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. The Eucalyptus & Rosemary candle is soy & paraffin blend with notes of eucalyptus, white floral and a touch of rosemary. Their standard candle has a 90 hour burn time and retails for $60.
4. Incense & Embers (Jo Malone)
Now a member of the Estée Lauder Family of Companies, Jo Malone has been producing high quality scented products such as candles, perfumes & skin care products since 1994. Their Incense & Embers candle combines smoky incense & golden amber with notes of leather, vetiver & white pepper. In addition to this list, the Incense & Embers candle was named to the Elle.com’s “The Best Winter Candles” list.
3. Wonderwood (Commes de Garçons)
This candle based off of the beloved Wonderwood scent from Comme des Garçons, the famed Japanese fashion brand. The Wonderwood candle has notes of incense, guaiac, sandalwood, vetiver and oud with a hint of musty patchouli. The 5.3 oz candle retails for $62.
2. Santal 26 (Le Labo)
Le Labo is a New York based fragrance company that has earned praise for being animal-friendly & 100% organic. Their Santal 26 candle is poured by hand using soy wax, and described as an “aristocratic scent that gives off a gentle, smokey, and leathery fragrance.” Their 7oz “vintage” candle retails for $60 at Barneys.
1. Royal Musk (Parfums de Marly)
Refered by some as the “Rolls Royce of candles”, the Royal Musk combines musk with floral notes such as rose, jasmine & iris. This candle also has a wood wick that crackles when lit, producing a fireplace like experience. It carries a hefty price tag, running $130 for a 6oz candle, but given its press, it might be worth it.
